  • What equipment do I need?
For matwork, you will only need a thick yoga mat. My recommendations for additional equipment are Magic Circle, a 9-inch Pilates ball, 1-3 pound dumbbells, ankle or wrist weights, a yoga block, and a foam roller. • How are your classes set up?
Our group mat Pilates classes are designed to provide you with guidance on how to perform each exercise correctly. During the session, I will instruct you on the specific movements and techniques, ensuring you get the most out of your workout. While I may or may not demonstrate the exercises live, I will closely monitor your form to ensure you're executing each move safely and effectively. To achieve this, it's important that your camera remains on throughout the class, allowing me to offer adjustments and cues as needed. This setup ensures that everyone in the class stays aligned with the practice, creating a supportive and engaging environment. I also offer one-on-one sessions if you're looking for a more tailored Pilates experience. These private sessions are ideal if you want personalized attention, whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills at a deeper level.
  • What is the difference between classical and contemporary Pilates?
Classical Pilates is a Pilates style that aims to stay true to the original work of Joseph Pilates by adhering to the six foundational principles: centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow. We strive to practice the original exercises and use original equipment whenever possible to maintain the authentic feel and results of Pilates as originally intended. Contemporary Pilates is often a modified version of the original work which may or may not incorporate influences from other styles and forms of fitness. Where teachers may not have a fully equipped studio or have only learned a partial portion of the Pilates system new exercises are often introduced to make up for those that are not available from the original work.
